034Motorsport B9/B9.5 Audi RS4 & RS5 EA839 2.9TT Dynamic+ Performance Software was developed entirely in-house on 034Motorsport's Development B9 RS5. The calibrations were then refined on multiple enthusiast-owned beta tester cars around North America.

034Motorsport Engineers develop special in-house tools that allow us to access the firmware and maps inside the factory ECU, this level of engineering is required to prevent workarounds and bandaids that many aftermarket companies resort to. 034Motorsport engineers and optimizes the ECU calibrations just like Audi engineers would, but accessing the source of how the ECU controls the engine and making changes at the base level.
This is the ONLY way 034Motorsport can ensure our calibrations meet our high standards for ultimate power with smooth drivability, perfect function, reliability and added functions and features even beyond what the factory programming can provide.
NOTE: The E85 calibration is not a flex-fuel style tune. The tune will work with E85 directly from the pump, both summer and winter blends (ethanol content can vary from E60-E85). This tune requires only E85 be pumped into the fuel tank. Gasoline blends and race fuel mixtures should not be used, and engine damage could occur if the incorrect fuel or octane is used. We strongly recommend an ethanol content gauge be used so that you can monitor the actual ethanol content at the pump you are using.
When switching fuels, it takes about 20-30 minutes of normal driving for the new tank of fuel to fully circulate through the system when filled at E. Please minimize load (don’t floor it!) until you have driven the car for at least 30 minutes. Ethanol content analyzers installed close to the fuel rail will also help you see when the ethanol has fully run through the system.
WHY IS AL552 ZF8 TCU SOFTWARE NECESSARY ON THE EA839 2.9TT?
As with any automatic transmission vehicle, the ECU and TCU computers work synchronously to properly apply torque to the vehicles drivetrain in a safe and reliable manner. Within both the ECU and TCU, there are factory safety tables that limit overall torque output based upon what the factory first tuned the car for. The ECU reports the output of torque from the engine to the TCU, and the TCU decides if this is suitable, or too much. If it is too much, the TCU will command the ECU to reduce torque output based upon its safety tables.
034Motorsport takes a holistic approach with its Dynamic+ tuning, and aims to retain as many OEM safety protocols as possible. While it is possible to tune around the factory TCU torque limiters from the ECU side, this is done at the expense of torque safety features that are integral in keeping your transmission running safely. 034Motorsport’s calibrators tune the ECU to work with the TCU to provide accurate torque values, and recalibrate the appropriate safety ranges for the TCU. Taking these extra steps to retain OEM safety systems on the ECU and TCU side is just one of the many reasons that Dynamic+ software provides substantial yet reliable performance increases.

DYNAMIC+ ECU FEATURES:
THERMAL MANAGEMENT SAFETY STRATEGIES:
With increased power, comes increased heat. With increased heat, comes the need for additional management. For both charge air temperature and engine coolant temperature, 034Motorsport has implemented key safety features to keep your engine running optimally and safely in virtually any condition - just like the OEM calibration. Substantial effort was spent on balancing the trade off of charge temp for power, and improving the compressor efficiency so that it doesn't generate too much charge temp.
Charge Air Temp: When the charge temp exceeds 60*C there is a reduction in power output. When the charge temp exceeds 65*C there is a more significant reduction in power output. This charge temp limitation is there to prevent knock events from excessive charge temps, which can severely damage a motor. With these safety measures in place, you can confidently drive your car, from the top of Pikes Peak to Death Valley, knowing the factory ECU has optimal performance and safety covered.
Coolant Temp/Fan Strategy: From the factory, Audi likes to run hotter water temps to reduce fluid friction losses from cooler, more viscous oil. While better for efficiency, this strategy becomes a safety issue when loads and heat are increased. 034Motorsport calibrators have rescaled the coolant temperature targets and fan control strategies to target lower coolant temperatures when in higher heat conditions, allowing the car to run within a safe heat range rescaled for the added heat that comes from tuning the engine. Once again, this means that 034Motorsport calibrators have kept your confidence in safety fully intact from the OEM configuration.
Turbocharger Intercooler Pump Optimizations: The coolant pump that circulates water in the turbocharger intercooler system is now optimized to reduce Intake Air Temperatures faster and at a lower overall set point.
LAUNCH CONTROL OPTIMIZATIONS:
From the factory, conventional launch control strategies are not activated in the ECU. 034Motorsport’s skilled Calibration team has properly engineered and implemented true launch control functionality to the EA839 and AL552 ZF8. 034Motorsport engineers have refined and optimized the requested launch torque to ensure repeatable and consistent launches, capable of reducing 0-60 times by up to half a second depending on road conditions and tire grip. Unlike the factory ECU that tries to “push through the brakes” on a standing brake launch, the 034Motorsport Dynamic+ calibration will allow proper loading of the engine without pushing through the brakes as hard, and properly targets a specified RPM to launch at.
FUEL SYSTEM OPTIMIZATION:
While E85 provides substantial increases in power, it requires about 30% more fuel than standard pump gasoline per ignition cycle. Utilizing a variety of fuel stratified injection strategies, 034Motorsport calibrators have further optimized the factory fueling system to be able to adequately support full E85 on factory hardware for Stage 1 tunes.
The main limiting factory in the 2.9TT fuel system is the factory high pressure fuel pump. 034Motorsport calibrators have optimized Stage 1+ files to add additional power while running E85 with the installation of an upgraded high pressure fuel pump.
In order to properly run 034Motorsport Stage 1+/2+ or Stage 3 files, you must be using an upgraded HPFP that has a 37% larger diameter piston over stock such as the 034Motorsport High Pressure Fuel Pump Piston Upgrade Kit.
ACCURATE BOOST AND TORQUE REPORTING:
As with anything in life, it is always best to be truthful. This especially applies when it comes to reporting torque outputs in the ECU to the other control modules in the car, as well as displaying accurate boost readings to the driver via the boost gauge found on the Virtual Cockpit. With 034Motorsport Dynamic+ software, the ECU is reporting accurate torque values to critical systems like the TCU to ensure that all safety systems are intact in both control units, and the added torque from tuning is properly adjusted for when driving/shifting, including all safety systems designed to protect the engine and transmission
ENHANCED CRACKLES IN DYNAMIC MODE
Crackles are further enhanced in Dynamic mode! They can be toggled on or off via Drive Select. They will be on in Dynamic and off in Comfort. VALVED-EXHAUST DELETE COMPATIBILITY
This ECU tune allows for full performance when using aftermarket exhausts without exhaust flaps, or OEM exhaust with valves unplugged. Without this feature, running your car with the exhaust flap controller unplugged/with cancellers installed would result in derated performance.
VOLUMETRIC EFFICIENCIES AND HOW TO OPTIMIZE FOR THEM:
Volumetric efficiency (VE) is how well a motor can move air/fuel in and out of it’s combustion chamber, the higher the efficiency, the more of the air/fuel can be converted to torque and power. Every engine has a volumetric efficiency that varies with RPM. For this reason, every internal combustion engine has torque that varies with RPM; some motors, thanks to advanced features like variable valve and camshaft timing, can create exceptionally flat torque curves across a broad range of RPM simply due to optimizing VE using these advanced control features. Despite this ability, every modern engine, especially with forced induction, will have torque values that vary across the RPM band. In the case of the 2.9TT EA839, there is a dip in VE at 3000 RPM, or said a different way, VE is very efficient from 2-2500 RPM, and continues to be very efficient by 3500 RPM, but drops to a slightly lower level at 2700-3000 RPM. For reference, all of our dyno charts show a dip in TQ around 2700-3000 RPM for this very reason. It is important to note that this isn’t a problem with the tuning, and we could have very easily smoothed out the torque curve in our charts to minimize this, but we chose to leave it for the sake of accuracy and transparency.
The normal VE drop at 3000 is substantial, and more than what our final power numbers suggest, but instead of smoothing the curve to hide this, we chose to tackle it head on using our tuning expertise and technical mastery calibrating these ECU’s. A way to combat the VE drop is to increase boost through this region, but instead of simply turning up the boost using the boost control strategy, we re-engineered the ECU’s torque request function to target a higher TQ through this region. The result is more power and torque using the ECU’s factory control strategy, which keeps all factory ECU functionality and safety features in place. Ultimately we are able to make the dip less than the natural VE by raising boost a safe amount, but boost cannot make up all the difference. What we have done is optimized in performance, safety and functionality - just as if the factory had done it.
Keen observers will note that this dip is present in other company’s advertised charts too, but greatly smoothed over and reduced visually, so buyers should be aware. This dip is in the VE of the motor, it’s normal for all engines, and there is no reason to hide it or be anything less than transparent and honest about this motor’s performance.

OPTIMIZED SHIFT POINTS
In order to take advantage of the increased powerband from the turbochargers, Dynamic+ Tuning optimizes the shift points in all driving modes to maximize acceleration during wide open throttle scenarios.
IMPROVED SHIFT SPEEDS
To further enhance the acceleration of your Audi, the ZF8 shift times are dramatically decreased in all driving modes, which ultimately results in quicker acceleration. Shift times are now up to 70% faster!
Shift pressures are also increased in Sport Mode to maximize performance. In Sport Mode, you will notice less lazy shifts, more firm shifts, which ultimately results in quicker acceleration.
AMAX SHIFTING
AMAX Shifting is a shifting strategy that stands for “Acceleration Maximum.” These gear shifts are the fastest and quickest possible for optimal acceleration . These are activated in shifting after launching your vehicle from a stop using launch control.
AMAX is now activated in the 4-5, 5-6, and 6-7 shifts where it was previously disabled from the factory.
When in AMAX mode, line pressures in the transmission have been optimized to safely increase shift speeds.
INCREASED LAUNCH STALL RPM
The launch stall RPM has been raised for a significant increase in force, allowing you to get off the line as fast as possible.
DELAY TIME BETWEEN LAUNCHES REDUCED
The delay time between launch control activations has been shortened. This is useful when drag racing to heat up tires using launch control, and re-activate quickly before launching down the drag strip!

STAGE 1+
034Motorsport Stage 1+ Performance Software for the EA839 2.9TT engine running pump gas or ethanol is engineered to safely increase the horsepower and torque with the addition of an upgraded high pressure fuel pump and no additional hardware. Due to the significant addition of torque from just Stage 1+, the 034Motorsport AL552 ZF8 TCU tune is required to be run in parallel with our ECU tuning.
Stage 1+ Performance Software for the EA839 2.9TT increases performance over Stage 1 running E85. If you are traveling somewhere without E85, 034Motorsport also offers 91 & 93 octane files to be used with an upgraded HPFP. This allows you to travel cross country without worry of having to plan for E85 stations or carrying gas jugs. Stage 1+ files do not increase performance figures on pump gas over the factory HPFP.

STAGE 2
Throughout our rigorous software development process, we tested to see if the conventional Stage 2 hardware configuration of High-Flow Downpipes on Stock Turbos allowed for higher performance over Stage 1/1+. We found that regardless of fuel used, the OEM Downpipes provided sufficient airflow, and that no additional power was able to be gained by installing a more free-flowing exhaust system.
Due to the lack of performance gains, we initially opted not to provide a tune offering to accommodate this hardware configuration. Due to the increased volume of requests, 034Motorsport now offers Stage 2 and Stage 2+ ECU files that accomodate the use of high-flow catted and catless downpipes. These files will not provide any additional performance over Stage 1/1+, but will allow you to run these parts without visible error codes. These files are for Sanctioned Racing Use Only, and will not allow you to pass emissions testing.
Stage 2/2+ files are now included with the purchase of Stage 1/1+ free of charge. 034Motorsport EA839 2.9TT Performance Software is flashed via the factory OBD-II port, and does not require any physical modification of the factory ECU. STAGE 3 HYBRID TURBOCHARGER
034Motorsport Stage 3 Performance Software for the EA839 2.9TT equipped with TTE720 Hybrid Turbochargers (running pump gas or ethanol) is engineered to safely increase the horsepower and torque beyond the stock turbocharger. Significant time was spent refining and safely optimizing the TTE720 Hybrid Turbocharger calibrations to ensure unrivaled drivability and uncompromised reliability. While many tuners can achieve great power figures that look impressive on a dyno sheet or a webpage, the key to a truly substantive and transformative software upgrade lies in the strategies employed to make power efficiently and safely.
In addition to power improvements, 034Motorsport's engineers spent a significant amount of time refining the throttle mapping in both Dynamic and Comfort modes to provide improved throttle response and allow for more precise throttle modulation with the addition of a hybrid turbocharger.

UPGRADED HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP OPTIMIZATION:
Dynamic+ Stage 1+ and Stage 3 Software are designed to be utilized with the 034Motorsport High Pressure Fuel Pump Piston Upgrade that offers a 37% larger diameter piston over the factory.
The 034Motorsport Stage 3 TTE720 E60-E70 file can accommodate an ethanol content range of E60-E70. This file is designated for use when seeking the highest power output possible. This ethanol content allows your Audi to safely generate maximum power from the TTE720 turbochargers by maximizing the octane level and knock-reduction efficiency of ethanol, without overloading the fuel system with extra fuel capacity that the current fuel system cannot sustain.
The Stage 3 E85 Pump file is recommended to have an ethanol content of E60-E85 and is designed to provide the most power possible with higher ethanol contents. This file is suited for those looking to daily drive their vehicle and run E85 from the pump safely without the hassles of mixing.

Dynamic+ Stage 2 TCU Software can be used with our Stage 1/2 OR Stage 1+/2+ ECU software. 034Motorsport Stage 2 TCU Tuning further improves shifting performance and speed for casual and track driving in all driving modes.
